Introduction
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION The position is responsible for delivering sales whilst affecting acceptable/attractive GP to retailers and creating value at retail in the HMR department. Specialist consulting and training across all food department concepts.
Job description
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- To identify ways to increase Retailer’s HMR gross profit and sales
- To assist stores with ranging and menu design for the HMR department, Bean Tree and food concepts.
- To assist stores with recipes and recipe costings for the HMR department, Bean Tree and food concepts.
- To assist stores with stock and order control in HMR department & Bean Tree.
- To assist stores with production planning to maximize HMR staff productivity.
- To assist stores with implementation of good hygiene and food safety standards in the Bean Tree & HMR department
- To assist project managers with store revamps and new store openings
- Advice on the purchasing, layout and maintenance of HMR department equipment
- To provide training to retailers on the National Service Department Library
- To identify food trends & concepts and implement in stores.
- Understanding of the SPAR business model.

Minimum requirements
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12
- National Diploma: Food Service Management or similar qualification
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Food Service & Foods Preparation
- Food Safety knowledge would be advantageous.
- 2 year experience in Managing a Kitchen.
- Computer literacy -MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and project management)
- Financial / business acumen
- Retail experience
- Valid drivers license, a necessity.
- Valid Passport
- Must be willing to travel extensively.
- Able to work independently, good interpersonal and problem-solving skills
